I’m not bothered whether it’s a Priyanka Chopra or a Meryl Streep: Annu Kapoor

Annu Kapoor is surely a busy man these days, with his film, that toplines actor Priyanka Chopra, is due for release.

After having hosted a popular music show on television for more than a decade and then being away from the arclights for long to now launching his production house, he has come a long way.

But we couldn’t resist asking  Kapoor about the controversy that PC had reservations to do an intimate scene with him in the film.

“I’m not bothered whether it’s a Priyanka Chopra or a Meryl Streep. I am a professional actor and it is important to deliver my best shot. As for Priyanka, I think she had certain reservations as I’m her father’s friend and quite elder to her.”

The actor also says that he is glad that  good cinema is now being recognised as opposed to just multi-starrer and big sets.

“Farah Khan’s film Tees Maar Khan was a super flop — the reason is over-confidence. Once they make a good film and become a brand, they start thinking that any crap served to the audience will be a hit, but her film’s failure has proved that story is God and nothing else can cover up for a crappy script,” he says.

Talking about his own production house,  Kapoor says, “My creative team heard around 60 concepts and shortlisted 15 to 17. I have finally zeroed in on one. But it is too early to talk about it. The formal launch of the production house will take place in March.”
