I love this culture shock, says DJ Milena Scheide

International DJs coming to town is not a new concept and adding to the long list is Milena Scheide. The Brazilian DJ, who is currently in India for the first time, performed at Trilogy last night. One of the most requested women DJs, she is the feminine face of electronic music. Milena brings the pure House, ranging from deep house, tech house to progressive.

Having played international gigs in Mexico for official Playboy parties, Colombia, Costa Rica, Spain, Portugal, Paraguay, Italy, Dominican Republic, to name a few — she is now ready for Mumbai. Talking about the music scene in Brazil, Milena says,

“The electronic music in Brazil has varied tastes depending on the region and the club. At times it even goes from underground to commercial scene. When I play any genre, I don’t have a fixed set of songs... I feel the public and their choices and accordingly play my music, mostly tech house, deep house, house with vocals. I have heard there are some good nightclubs in Mumbai, so I am looking forward to see the audience reactions.”

Milena started playing five years ago and since then there has been no looking back. She also takes pride in the fact that she is one of the few women DJs in demand out there. “I love what I do and the fact that not many women are still working on this makes it special. Being a woman DJ, it was a little biased initially, but now it’s easier,” recalls Milena. However besides Brazil, the young DJ enjoys spinning in Spain, famous for its parties. “I really enjoyed playing in Ibiza in Spain. I think it is the dream destination of all DJs. I had great fun in Mexico and Colombia as well,” she adds. So who’s her favourite DJ? “I like a lot of DJs, but I can’t not talk about David Guetta. He is a huge name today and I totally love his music,” Milena beams.

The DJ is also looking forward to visiting Goa, which is unofficially the most popular party destination in India. “This is my first time in India, and I’ll love to go to Goa, I love this culture shock. For me, it is the best school you can have to experience life.”
