I love being the underdog: Kunal Khemu

Actor Kunal Khemu’s recent film saw him return to the action thriller genre after quite some time. Having dabbled in comedies the past several months, Kunal says that he wasn’t looking for a change in genres deliberately. “I don’t chalk out my career thinking that I want to first do serious drama, then a comedy or an action. I take the best of what’s available and only if it interests me,” says Kunal.

His film, Blood Money, may not have earned critical acclaim, even though his performance has been appreciated, but Kunal says he will always stand by his director. “I don’t believe in getting into a blame-game or credit-hogging mode whether a film works or not. We are in it together, no matter what the result,” explains Kunal. Currently shooting for his next film Go, Goa, Gone, the actor says that past failures and successes have only taught him the way forward. “I love being the underdog, so I look at it optimistically and believe that the only way to go from here is the way up, and I’m looking forward to that,” adds Kunal.

In between all his work, the actor has been busy dealing with the speculations surrounding his marriage to actor Soha Ali Khan. “Soha and I are in a happy phase of our lives and all this speculation regarding our marriage is something that we are just not letting affect us. We will tie the knot when we want to,”
says Kunal. Reacting to buzz of a November shaadi in store for the duo, he says, “No, as of now it’s not going to be a November wedding.”
