I have lived my life at my own pace: Neetu Singh

…And without regrets too, says actress Neetu Singh, as she talks about her big comeback with husband Rishi Kapoor.

I have lived my life at my own pace: Neetu Singh

Actress Neetu Singh broke many hearts in the early eighties when she quit Bollywood to become Mrs Neetu Kapoor. But many were still hopeful of seeing the vivacious charmer back on screen inspite of becoming a Kapoor bahu. However, it turned out to be a long wait as it has taken nearly 30 years for the actor — who’d only done a cameo in Love Aaj Kal recently — to want to make a comeback.

But Neetu had her reasons for not coming back sooner. “I had been working since I was a child. I’ve had my share of fame and stardom, so when I married, I was more than happy to give it all up for a settled life at home. I have lived my life at my own pace, and without regrets.” Children were a big factor too. “I lived my childhood through my children Ranbir and Riddhima. I missed out a lot of things during my childhood, so, I was keen on giving my children a very normal life,” adds the actor.

Elegantly dressed as always Neetu makes for a royal picture as she’s seated with her pug Pugly snuggled in her arms. So, it’s hard to imagine her as the simple middle-class housewife that she plays in Do Dooni Chaar with husband Rishi Kapoor.
“I was apprehensive initially, but I loved the script. It was Ranbir who convinced me that I could and he’s happy that I did,” she beams. Talking about Ranbir, Neetu adds, “I think we have reversed our roles at home. He gives me advice now.”
