I have always lived life on my own terms: Farooq Sheikh

Actor Farooq Sheikh is making his comeback to TV after eight long years post Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai with a show titled Speak up Mumbai. Farooq has already interviewed the chief minister of Maharashtra on his grill seat with the politician promising several things for the city and its inhabitants within a stipulated period of time. The format of the show will also see the CM returning to the show as Farooq and the common people of the state will question and rate him on the promises kept and broken.

The show will call government officials and other chosen public figures as guests on the show and ask them to highlight several social issues and then pinpoint on the promises made by them. With that, an effort will be made to project a clear and positive picture, resolving the issues and working towards the promises made. The show will also follow up on these issues and their commitments and the developments thereafter.

Farooq reveals, “I would never say that it’s my comeback as I only believe in doing work that really excites me. So the moment I got a good offer, I took it on. I wasn’t on a sabbatical ever but I would not do things that I don’t feel like doing. I have always lived life on my own terms and the choice of movies or TV serials have always echoed that.”

While Farooq is also doing a movie soon, the veteran character actor, who has acted with acclaimed film-makers like Satyajit Ray, Muzaffar Ali, Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Ketan Mehta, feels Bollywood needs to pay more attention to scripts as content is quite significant now. “I’m also doing a movie but it is too early to talk about it. I love the movies that the present generation is doing but I hope they pay more attention to scripting. Stories are hardly good. Once that becomes better, we will make better films.”
