I don’t mind the wait: Madhuri Dixit-Nene

Actress Madhuri Dixit-Nene may not have a film in her kitty yet, but speculation is rife about her signing up for the remake of Satte Pe Satta. In the meanwhile, however, the Dhak dhak star is already preparing for her next trip to India. And though the forthcoming trip is once again for a stint on TV, she is open to bagging some interesting roles in Bollywood too. “But I’m in no rush,” says the actress.

“I don’t feel the need to sign up for anything or everything coming my way, just to be in Bollywood. I’m not desperate for work, so I don’t mind waiting for the right role to come my way,” she explains.

There’s no denying that there are offers galore too, but Madhuri prefers not to talk about films she’s turned down. “What’s the point in talking about them when I’m not doing them na,” she quips. She may have not come across any script that’s caught her eye yet, but Dixit is optimistic.

“There are so many interesting films being made where filmmakers are pushing the envelope. I think it’s an interesting phase for any actor. There’s so much more meaningful cinema today. And I’m glad that films are being made where characters and not actors alone take centrestage,” she adds.

Despite her long and super-successful innings here, the one thing that Madhuri finds tough to talk about is her favourites. “I have worked with so many actors and directors, it’s impossible to name just a few as favourites. There are just too many of them,” she says.

“Each one has helped me evolve as an actor in their own way and I’m glad that equations haven’t changed over the years. When I am in Mumbai, I feel like I’d never been away from Bollywood at all,” she adds.

Ask her about her impending trip to India and she says that the dates are yet to be finalised. “Leaving the kids behind,” she says referring to her sons Arin and Ryan, “is never easy for any mom. But they are comfortable with me not being around for a few days, it works out fine.”

This time around though she may bring them down too. “I would love them to accompany me, but like I said, it all depends on the dates finally,” she smiles.
