I am yet to get my due in India: Irrfan Khan

Irrfan Khan, one of the few Indian actors to have carved a niche for himself in global cinema with movies like The Warrior and Slumdog Millionaire feels that he is yet to get his due back home.

"It does pinch me because I have got global recognition but the same cannot be said about India. I struggled for years in the industry but I started getting noticed only after I won an international award for The Warrior," Irrfan said in an interview.

But the actor is happy that he is finally getting the kind of work he had always wanted to do in the Indian film industry.

"I am happy despite that because I am finally getting the kind of work that I enjoy doing. There was a time when I was doing films just to be seen, just to be in circulation. I don't have to do that anymore," says Irrfan.

The actor will next be seen in the thriller Acid Factory and the biopic Paan Singh Tomar.

Irrfan, who has worked with superstar Angelina Jolie in the critically acclaimed film The Mighty Heart, also has his hands full as far as Hollywood projects go.

He is working in Meera Nair's I Love New York opposite Natalie Portman and Jennifer Lynch's Hiss with Bollywood siren Mallika Sherawat.
