I am very much single: Shruti Haasan

Actress Shruti Haasan, who has been busy, more so with work down South, than in Bollywood, may be prepping up to get equally busy here too very soon.

However, in all this juggling, the actor is hoping that her love for music doesn’t take a backseat. “I’m really passionate about my music and my music career is just as important for me as my film career. I don’t think I can let it take a backseat, and I do hope to maintain the balance,” says the actor-cum-singer, who does playback for her own songs.

“Well, I write and create my own songs. As an actor, you have limitations as you have to stick to the character, but music gives me the freedom to get really creative. It kind of sets me free,” adds Shruti.

Currently, however, the actor is more excited about her upcoming film 3 with actor Dhanush. All praises for the actor, Shruti reveals that working with Dhanush kept her on her toes.

“Through his own performance, he actually motivates and inspires you to do better than you think you can. So it’s a great experience working with him, for sure,” she says. Shruti has even sung a romantic number for the film and she says that it also happens to be one of her favourites. So, is she a romantic at heart in real life too? “Yes, sort of, though I don’t believe in hearts and chocolates being the symbol of love at all (laughs). But I do feel that every girl does believe in romance, or at least wants to, whether she accepts it or not,” adds Shruti, even as she admits to be single at the moment.

“Yes, I’m very much single,” she insists, adding laughingly, “Where’s the time to have that active a social life?” On a serious note, she adds, “It may sound cliched, but it’s true. Right now, both my heart and mind are in my work and music. If I do fall in love, great, if not, that’s fine too. I’m in no hurry anyway,” she smiles.
