'I’am partying elsewhere New Year’s'

Sandalwood’s girl brigade is least happy about the nightlife issue surfacing again. They’d much rather head to Goa, or even Hyderabad.

'I’am partying elsewhere New Year’s'

Looks like Bangalore’s New Year parties may lose all the glam touch, going by the sorry state of the city’s nightlife. And the girls from Sandalwood aren’t staying quiet about the resurfacing of nightlife impediments either, which they find completely unwarranted.

Actress Sharmila Mandre rues, “This is ridiculous. I’ve travelled across the globe and I’ve seen how a large chunk of any city’s tourist population comes only to check out the nightlife. Bangalore, which is a big destination on the global radar, has a bunch like that too. With the extra restrictions on the already-limited nightlife, we are cutting out on that. I don’t understand what can be harmful about a DJ playing live, when all the lounges obey the 11.30pm deadline.”

Dancing is no crime either, these girls believe. Actress Ragini Dwivedi says, “When you’re done with a long day at work, you cannot be expected to go somewhere and just sit and drink without music. Music and dance are stress busters. In fact, it’s more harmful to sit and drink continuously!”

Actress Aindrita Ray seems to have given up on the state of affairs. “It is very disappointing. Bangalore, at one point, used to be the nightlife capital of India, apart from Goa. From that position to the current state, it is a dismal story. Entertainment is everyone’s right. No one can curb or dictate that. Cops should concentrate on more serious crimes than eyeing innocent civilians in nightclubs,” she says.

And these girls do not seem to be very amused with the fact that this hullabaloo has resurfaced at the peak party season. They seem to be eyeing other cities for their New Year plans. “I like how Hyderabad has grown by leaps and bounds in terms of its nightlife. People can party till dawn without being stopped, I might just go there,” says Sanjjanaa.

Sharmila too is looking at greener pastures. “In case I don’t have work around that time, I will most probably head to Mumbai or Goa. I don’t want to be asked to stop dancing or head back home before midnight. The current embargo makes me embarrassed about our city,” she signs off.
