I am on my own, says actor Ranveer Singh

Ever since new comer Ranveer Singh’s debut film Band Baaja Baarat released, almost every director and producer has taken notice of the young actor.

Amidst all the appreciation and awards, the actor was embroiled in a controversy — that his father, a businessman partly funded his film. Though Singh initially chose to keep quiet about it, he, along with the production house soon clarified and said that it was not the case.

On being probed, Singh says, “Everybody knows that I went through the standard audition process and was chosen. In fact, the production guys had really liked my first audition but I almost lost the part when I messed up during the second audition.”

Elaborating further he says that he had lost all hopes of featuring in the film because he didn’t fare well in his final audition. “I was great in the first audition but the second one required me to speak a few lines with Anushka (Sharma). I have been a huge fan of hers from her debut film and the very thought of being in the same frame with her got me nervous. I messed up real bad and was not in my element at all. I had given up all hopes to bag the film, until they called me for another audition followed by a look test and they were convinced.”

A source from the production house too says, “Ranveer displayed his talent at an audition and has gone on to prove himself. To suggest that he is a product of the Studio’s vindictiveness is demeaning to him as well.”

But quiz Singh about his alleged romance with co-star Anushka and he can’t stop gushing about her. Buzz is that the duo is seeing each other but have never acknowledged their relationship in public. Singh laughs it off saying, “We were never seeing each other so there was never anything to acknowledge or accept. We are very good friends but there really is no time for love. My priorities are set and love doesn’t feature anywhere on it.”
Well, let’s see how long it takes until his priorities change.
