I am glad to be back home: Yuvraj Singh

A million prayers were answered when cricketer Yuvraj Singh, who was battling cancer, finally announced to the world that he was coming back to India.

The cricketer apparently underwent three cycles of chemotherapy in the United States for a rare germ cell cancer between his lungs and returned to the country on Monday to a inspiring welcome from fans in Delhi.

The cricketer landed in Delhi early morning yesterday, and was welcomed by his mother who had come to receive him at the airport. It was an emotional arrival for the sportsman as he saw a sea of fans who had come all the way from Punjab to catch a glimpse of their favourite player. Yuvi had lost hair during the treatment which is probably why he had a cap on. He was dressed in  a red T-shirt and khaki pants. On being asked what he would want to eat first, the cricketer apparently said, “Gobi ke paranthe”.

Yuvraj, who was first in the US for the treatment of his cancer, was later in London for a couple of days, recuperating. During that time, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar paid him a visit along with actor Ameesha Patel and Ranvijay Singha. All through this, Yuvi was very active on Twitter, talking to his fans and keeping them posted about the progress of his treatment.

A lot of his friends from Bollywood too kept a tab on his health and well-being, some of whom include Asin, Amitabh Bachchan, Bipasha Basu, Abhishek Bachchan and Neha Dhupia. He had also received get-well-soon messages from his fans in London and cancer survivor, Lance Armstrong. As soon as his three rounds of chemotheraphy concluded, he tweeted that he would be back to India. “Finally the day has come! I am going home tomorrow! Can’t wait, excited to see my friends and family.. see you India!! Mera Bharat mahan!” Yuvraj had tweeted on Sunday.
