I am fond of Asin: Neil Nitin Mukesh

If recent reports are anything to go by,  then actor Neil Nitin Mukesh is apparently smitten by South star Asin.

Asin, who made her Bollywood debut with Ghajini, is reportedly being considered for a lot of films and Neil is only too happy for her. However, he is furious with reports of him recommending her to producers.

“Asin is a very close friend, and I see no reason why I should shy away from that. I am fond of her and we are good friends, but I don’t need to recommend her to anyone. She is a lovely actress and can get good roles on her own merit.” he shoots back.

The actor, who is still basking in the praise his latest release 7 Khoon Maaf has got, is quite generous about his co-star, Priyanka Chopra. “If there was no Priyanka, there wouldn’t have been a 7 Khoon Maaf. She was fabulous in the film. I also liked Annu Kapoor, I thought he was phenomenal.”

Having worked with most of the top rung heroines today, who else is on his wish-list? “Anushka Sharma and Asin”, pat comes the reply. He adds, “I saw Ghajini and Asin was unbelievably good in that. She portrayed so many emotions effortlessly. Anushka too was superb in Band Baaja Baarat.  I look forward to working with both of them.”

Having earned a reputation of being an actor who has no qualms of experimenting with uncoventional roles, the recent being 7 Khoon Maaf, would he be willing to play a gay character on-screen which most B-Town heroes shy away from? “Why not?” says Neil. “If it’s not  mocking or ridiculing the subject, I have no qualms about playing a gay character. After all, most of my roles have more or less been an experiment,” saying so he trails off.
