‘I always wanted to be an actor’

She’s photographer Atul Kasbekar’s muse and a rather known face on the ramp. And now, after getting sufficient fame for herself as a model, Sheetal Menon gears up to scorch the silver screen. She will soon make her debut with ‘Brahm’, a film starring former models Dino Morea and Milind Soman.

And incidentally, Sheetal, who gained popularity as a ramp scorcher, will play a model in the film too. “That’s merely a coincidence,” says director Pawan Kaul, adding,
“Sheetal plays a really successful ramp model who has a troubled past. She has a strange reluctance to be with men but she meets Dino Morea and it changes her perception of men. That’s the basic premise of ‘Brahm’.”

The recently-married Soman plays Morea’s elder brother. “That all the three actors have been models is another coincidence,” laughs Kaul. Menon says that the role is complex and “the film is a good debut for me.” While modelling gives her satisfaction, movies have always been on mind for the model. “For most models, acting is a natural progression, but I  always wanted to be an actor. ‘Brahm’ was the right kind of role for me,” she says. Menon has also trained herself in acting. “With films happening, I don’t think I will leave modelling, but I will definitely do select projects now. Acting will be a focus, as I want to do good films.”
