Hot yoga did wonders for my body: Raima Sen

She tried it out after hearing about it, and actress Raima Sen swears by this yoga workout.

“It’s terrific — it did wonders to my body. I recommend it to everyone,” she says. Though people are against is because of the high temperatures involved in the workout, that’s what Raima likes, “That’s the best part of it, it totally gets the toxins out from your body and the results show faster,” she adds.

The actress also includes weight training in her fitness regime, training five times a week to tone up and giving her body time to rest and recover over the weekend. “As as actor, it’s extremely important because my career demands me to be fit and look good all the time. The days I don’t workout I feel low because I am so used to exercising regularly,” Raima says.

She gives great importance to staying physically fit, and also explains how essential mental soundness is in current times. “In our profession especially, and in today’s world, staying fit mentally and physically has become extremely important. Increasing stress in everyday life means that it’s crucial to give yourself that one hour a day where you either workout or meditate to relax your mind, body and soul.

Raima says she doesn’t always need to sit in one place to medidate, “I mediatate while listening to music or just lying down with my eyes closed. It’s something I feel I need, and afterwards I feel refreshed and happy. Different people meditate in their own ways and whatever works for you is fine — dancing, cooking or just sitting and thinking nothing,” she elaborates.

So does she watch her diet while ensuring to get the right amount of exercise? “I eat every two hours, food that is high on protein and low on carbs, and try not to eat after 7pm, giving in only to an apple or water. Once a week I indulge in everything I like but not too much. The two days that I don’t excrecise I often feel the need to eat sweets. I don’t starve my body of high carb stuff or junk — I just make sure I eat them in moderation,” Raima concludes.
