Hope 2012 finds me in my Bollywood debut: Preetika Rao

Preetika Rao, who impressed the critics with her performance in her Tamil debut Chikku Bhukku with Arya, recently received much appreciation from the film industry folks for her performance in her Telugu debut — a campus love story titled Priyudu, opposite teen heartthrob Varun Sandesh of Happy Days fame.

The actress, who claim’s she is in the “debut phase of her life”, is now all set to enter the the Kannada film industry, playing leading lady to Adithya in a mega budget movie directed by his dad — the veteran director Rajendra Singh Babu.

The movie, which is currently being shot for 24 days in Singapore, is titled Rebel and has an impressive star cast including actor’s like Avinash, Sudha Raani, Sanjana, Shawar Ali and Mani Ratnam’s wife Suhasini.

Preetika, who plays Aditya’s love interest in the film, says she is excited about debuting in Kannada since she is originally from Mangalore and her grandparents speak Kannada and they have lots of relatives in Mangalore and Bangalore.

With yet another mega budget Telugu movie in her pocket (which starts in mid-March) the actress is thrilled about making it on her own, without the influence of her elder sister who is Bollywood celebrity Amrita Rao.

“After Priyudu, phone has suddenly started ringing in from Bollywood, lets hope end of 2012 finds me in my Bollywood debut too!” she gushes.
