Hema Malini on daughter Esha’s rehab rumours

Actress Hema Malini has always spoken about how close she is to her daughters, Esha and Ahana. In fact, Hema says that the trio are more like friends. Back from a trip to the Ranthambore National Park in Rajasthan with daughter Ahana, Hema says that how they love wildlife excursions.

“We all (Hema, Esha and Ahana) love going on trips where there is scenic beauty. The bird watching and wildlife watching sessions during such outings are a good change from hectic routines. We are travel junkies,” she adds.

Ask Hema if Esha missed the trip because she was in a rehab centre as the gossip mills suggest, and she laughs out loud, “Do you think she (Esha) needs to go to a rehab when she lives with a walking talking rehab centre i.e. ME! I am a rehab in myself! Esha has been not doing much work because the films that were offered to her didn’t make any impact. I think that if I had launched Esha, her career would’ve been different but there are no regrets as she was young.”

So will we see the entire family together in a film anytime soon? “I am happy that Dharamji (actor husband Dharmendra) is now okay with Esha doing films and now that Ahana also has filmi plans, you never know... It all depends on the right script.”

So now that Hema has ventured into television production why didn’t she opt for a dance reality show given that she is a trained classic dancer herself? “I wanted to, but no one wants to watch classical dance shows. So I opted for a story which sent a message to the society instead. Matti Ki Banno is a story of an NRI girl based in Mauritius and gets married in Bihar. It talks about various problems faced by the girl and how she fights back. I want the urban audiences to know the harsh realities of our society,” she ends.
