Hariprriya Chandra: The new 'omana penne'

Even as Kannada actress Hariprriya is gearing up to be the next omana penne (darling) of Malayalam cinema, we hear the actor has been approached to essay a meaty role in the sequel of one of the biggest Malayalam blockbusters. “I have received three-four offers, not just in Malayalam but also in Tamil and Telugu. But I will speak about them only after I sign on the dotted line. As of now I am waiting for April 14 as my first Malayalam film Thiruvambadi Thamban will release on that day,” says the actor not wanting to reveal much.

She is however in a mood to talk about Thiruvambadi Thamban in which she plays the love interest of Jayaram. “The film comes from the makers of Shikar that was a huge hit last year. It revolves around my life in a joint family. It is a very fun and family oriented film,” she says. Elephants are integral to the story, she adds. “The film also highlights a Devi utsav and we had to shoot with elephants. Initially it was scary, but by the time the shooting was over, even the pachyderms had become camera friendly!” she recalls.

Hariprriya will back her Malayalam release with four Kannada releases — Sagar, Super Shastri, Khiladi Kitty and Nande. “Last year I had Telugu and Tamil releases. This year I am concentrating on Kannada films. But henceforth, I will be making a conscious effort to do one project each in all the four South Indian film industries. I am good at multi-tasking and I plan to put this ability of mine to good use,” she says before signing off.
