Oscar winner Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow (Shakespeare in Love) has apparently removed tagline "nourish the inner aspect" from the title of her blog, which is now just reduced to "GOOP".
Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, who has been strongly critical of Paltrow’s blog for mostly being too materialistic and indulging in very mundane things and shallow substances dealing with temporal and external pleasures, and catering to “outer” while claiming to “nourish the inner aspect”; has now praised her for “taking a step in the right direction” and thanked her for responding to his concerns.
In the past blogs, Paltrow, to “nourish the inner aspect”, recommended La Mamounia Hotel in Marrakesh Medina in Morocco where a suite can be about $8116, The Hemingway Bar in Paris (where a cocktail can cost 800 Euros), PDT or Please Don’t Tell in New York (found underground and through a phone booth at the hot dog joint—dark, mysterious and rife with taxidermy) for New Year’s cocktails, SIN-amon Rolls, gourmet taco trucks, gnocchi with rabbit ragu, drinking blood with the Masai in Tanzania, Tweezerman for taming unruly eyebrows of men, etc.
Zed, who is president of Universal Society of Hinduism, in a statement in Nevada (USA), said that the idea of foraying into “inner aspect” was wonderful, but he did not comprehend why Paltrow wanted to market a product with an entirely different label. Although the tagline of GOOP was “nourish the inner aspect”, there were not many deep spiritual and philosophical thoughts in it, which were essential part of “nourishing” the inner self. It was very “external”, Zed added.
Rajan Zed even suggested Paltrow in the past to change the tagline from “nourish the inner aspect” to “nourish the outer aspect”.
Ancient Hindu scriptures Upanishads indicated that finite things could not calm an infinite thirst because the delight lied in the infinite. We could not fill the hollowness with outer materials. We should aim at uniting with Self, described as sat-chit-anand (absolute existence, pure consciousness, outright bliss), Zed pointed out interpreting the scriptures.
GOOP is said to be a name carved from 37-year old Gwyneth Kate Paltrow’s initials, who is also sometimes known as “part yogini”.
