'Guzaarish' debutante Monikangana Dutta to be Victoria's Secret angel

Model Monikangana Dutta, who will make her debut in Hindi films with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Guzaarish, seems to be in no mood to hang up her modelling boots for tinsel town.

"I have not given up modelling. I have been selected as one of the six Victoria's Secret angels, the world-famous brand synonymous with chic women's wear," she told the Press Trust of India.

Dutta, who earlier appeared in fashion magazines like Elle and Vogue, is the first Indian model to be one of the six Victoria's Secret angels, i.e. main models.

Brazilian model Alessandra Ambrosio and Australian Miranda Kerr are among the other Secret angles.

Coming back to Guzaarish, the model-turned-actress refused to divulge details about her character Estella Francis in the film starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

But she said she has a dance with Roshan in the film for which the director enrolled her in a dancing school.

"The character is very much like what I have gone through in my personal life," Dutta said. "When Sanjay Sir narrated the character to me, I said I have to do this role."

Dutta, who hails from Guwahati in Assam and started her modelling career in Paris, does not feel 'overshadowed' though she is not included in the film's promos.

"I was in the initial promos that went on air. I do not know if anybody noticed me in them. I do not feel insecure or overshadowed by the movie's lead stars. In fact, I would always like to be overshadowed by people like Hrithik, Ash and Bhansali, who are my favourites," she said.

"After seeing world-famous models and working with them, I have no insecurities," she added.

Dutta recalled the bonhomie on the sets and said Roshan, Rai and Bhansali took the initiative to break the ice with her and made her comfortable while working.

Dutta said she has no regrets about rejecting a lot of single-heroine films offered to her earlier and which later went on to do well.

On the road ahead, she said she has a two-film contract with Sanjay Leela Bhansali and prays to choose the right films.
