Gunjan-Sachin get engaged

With the wedding set for next year, the besotted fiancee shares how she was wooed by her beau

Actors Gunjan Walia and Sachin Verma are officially a couple now. Gunjan had played Krishna in the recently ended 'Kuch Apne Kuch Paraye' (Sahara One) and Sachin had played the lead in 'Pyar Ki Kashti Mein' (Star One).

Love ki kahani
The two met about four months ago through common friend actor and model Diwakar Pundir. Gradually, friendship blossomed into love and before anyone knew, they even exchanged the engagement rings.

Sachin shares their love story, "After Diwakar introduced us, we kept meeting on weekends. We started liking each other and then came a point when we thought that we needed to formalise our relationship. We told our respective parents and they were fine with our decision. We got engaged at a small private function in Delhi on August 8. That way, it was a very simple and a no-hitches story."

Although theirs is a simple love story, Sachin ensured that he proposed to Gunjan in style. Gunjan shares, "Sachin took me out on a date. After dinner, he offered me a fortune cookie. I am generally very excited to know my future. But that day, when I opened it, the chit read, 'Will you marry me?' I was puzzled. Sachin said 'Go on. Eat it.' When I put it in my mouth, I felt the ring. It was a beautiful diamond ring. I was thrilled by the way he proposed to me."

But what made them take such a crucial decision in such a short span of time? "Our faith and conviction in our love was stronger than any other fact," says Sachin. He adds, "We will not get married before next year." However Gunjan says, "You never know what future has in store. We could have a quick wedding just as we had a quick engagement."

Ask Gunjan what she liked about him and she says, "Sachin is a very caring person. On the last day of the shoot of 'Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se' (a to-be-launched serial in which Sachin acts), Sachin treated everyone including the crew members. The other day, when it was raining heavily, he asked me to accompany him to a store. I wondered what was so urgent. Going there, I learnt that he wanted to buy raincoats for the spot boys. This touched me."
