Guess who’s playing Suriya’s mother?

Veena Bhat surely seems to be making quite a career in films, across all languages, lately. And her latest signing surely is the cherry on her cake. The grooming expert-actor-socialite has just signed AR Murugadoss’s much talked about film 7am Arivu, which stars Suriya and Shruti Haasan in the lead.

“I play Suriya’s mother. And I have my Sandalwood colleague Avinash playing my husband in this film. It is a role that has me excited to the maximum. Not only am I playing mother to one of the biggest stars, but I’m working with one of India’s best directors in this film,” says Veena, who credits casting agents Sudha Lakkshmi and Manoj Krishna for her bagging this role.

“It is a very exciting role. I get to wear really gorgeous costumes, sans any make up, since I play the role of a queen in the 16th Century. I just did the trial shoot for the film yesterday, and we’re all set to shoot for the film in February,” says Veena, who is required to shoot for six days for this film, the story of which has been kept closely guarded by the makers.

Veena has worked with makers like Nagathihalli Chandrashekher, R Guruprasad, P Vasu and Priyadarshan in films like Eddelu Manjunatha, Aptharakshaka, Kanjeevaram and Bhool Bhulaiya. “I also have a Pooja Gandhi-starrer, January 1 Bidugade, on hand, where I play a jail warden. I love the variety of roles that are coming my way,” ends Veena.
