Mumbai: Film-maker Apoorva Lakhia has put the debacle of Mission Istanbul behind him. Now, he is busy finishing the script of his next film and has signed one of the leads too.

Getting real: Apoorva Lakhia

"I have signed Sanjay Dutt for one of the pivotal roles in my film. I am yet to zero in on the other cast members as I am still writing the script."

When asked about the storyline, he says, "It's too early to reveal the plot. All I can say is that the film is based on a true story."

Before being a full-fledged director, Apoorva assisted quite a few well-known film-makers in Hollywood. "I have assisted Ang Lee in The Ice Storm and Andrew Davis in A Perfect Murder. It was great working with them because the working style over there is very different and systematic. They are amazingly professional and it was a great learning experience," he says.

Apoorva is still in touch with all his mentors but doesn't wish to leave India as his workplace. "I am pretty much into commercial movies here and it has been a great experience so far. Moreover, I think the life of film is a medium and you can make it at any part of the globe. If the idea is good, it will get appreciation from every quarter; so I don't need to go to Hollywood to make films. I can very well make it here," he ends.
