George Clooney, Miley Cyrus declare war on social networking sites

Hollywood celebrities, including George Clooney, Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Aniston and Drew Barrymore, have urged children not to use social networking sites because of the dangers posed by paedophiles.

As Facebook registered its 500 millionth member, Miley said it posed a threat to children.

Her claim came after a girl of 13 was kidnapped by a 48-year-old man in California who lured her on a 'date' online.

"I'm urging kids, don't go on the Internet. It's not fun; it's dangerous," she said.

Clooney, 48, said he'd rather have his privates paraded around on TV than join one of the popular social-networking websites.

"I would rather have a prostate exam on live television by a guy with very cold hands than have a Facebook page," the Daily Express quoted him as saying.
