Fresh salvo against Salman Khan

Fresh salvo against Salman Khan

This is a fresh salvo against  the reality show hosted by actor Salman Khan that has caught everybody unawares. Following a criminal case against him on Friday afternoon for using questionable language on his show, now Salman might follow a written script on the sets of the show, sources revealed yesterday.

Though he had a script, Salman while anchoring the show made a few extempore remarks on national television that were taken offence to.

According to senior officials of the Uttar Pradesh police, a criminal case has been registered against Salman for his obscene remarks on the show. Other than host Salman, the producer and director of the reality show and some of the contestants have also been dragged to court over its “vulgar content,” a police officer said.

“The case was filed in a court in Aligarh district under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 293 (sale of obscene objects), 294 (obscene acts and songs), and 120 B (criminal conspiracy). It was filed in the chief judicial magistrate’s (CJM) court on an application filed by an Aligarh-based lawyer Anoop Kaushik,” said a senior official of the Uttar Pradesh police.

“The five contestants against whom the case has been registered include Sara Khan, her husband Ali Merchant, Dolly Bindra, Shweta Tiwari and Sameer Soni. The managing director of the channel and the producer have also been named in the petition,” the police officer added. The court has fixed Nov 24 as the next date of hearing the case and will be issuing summons to the channel, according to sources.

Both Salman and the channel was unaware of the development that a fresh controversy has come up.

“Neither me or Salman can comment on the fact without going through the details of the case. We haven’t received any official communication about this issue so far,” said a spokesperson of the channel.
