For Amrita Rao quality over quantity matters

The actress reveals her mantra when it comes to films; also talks about her missing in action from the big screen these past few months.

For Amrita Rao quality over quantity matters

A sudden dip in Amrita Rao’s big screen outings have set tongues wagging in B-Town about the actor’s long absence from the silver screen. With only one film release last year, Love You Mr Kalakaar, the actor missing in action didn’t go unnoticed in the industry.

However, those close to Amrita say that she herself was unperturbed by what seemed like a mini-hiatus to others.

According to sources, there were a few projects that she had committed her dates to. However, apparently they got stuck and her date diary suddenly did open up, but then she had also committed to her brand endorsements and other projects that kept her busy. “Besides, there was no cause to worry as she was busy reading scripts and had enough interesting offers in hand. In fact, Amrita may not have had a film release off late, but she has been shooting for her film Jolly LLB all this while.

The Arshad Warsi-starrer apart, there’s also buzz that she’s being considered for a Kumar Taurani film opposite actor Shahid Kapoor, as well as another film to be directed by Sooraj Barjatya. “Yes, Amrita is in talks with the Tauranis for their upcoming film and they are keen to cast her with Shahid,” confirms a source. As for her pairing with the Barjatyas again, the source adds that they are like family and are indeed looking forward to working with her again after Vivaah.

“Luckily for me there’s never been a dearth of work, and I am really happy to be in a position to be able to choose films, rather than feel the need to sign anything that comes my way,” says Amrita. The actor, who’s been keeping hush-hush about the two expected biggies in the pipeline, adds that the announcements will be made by the production houses when they want to. “Well, I just don’t feel the need to be seen attending parties just to make my presence felt. I have been busy with films and my brand endorsements, but I don’t see why I should tom-tom about the films that I was offered and didn’t do or keep myself in the news for anything other than my work,” adds the actor. “Right from Main Hoon Na till now, I’ve always chosen quality over quantity and made it so far without any filmi backing. And for me, the mantra’s still the same,” she smiles.
