First time filmmaker Ravindra nervous about Sandalwood debut

Film-maker Ravindra, who’s debuting in Sandalwood with his film I Am Sorry… Matte Banni Preetsona, is nervous. While he wonders how the audience will take to his ‘different’ film, he says, “I’ll gladly pack my bags and go home if they don’t like it.”

The confidence stems from the fact that Ravindra’s film has already won enough appreciation from industry mavericks outside Karnataka.

“I was in Chennai on some work when Anjali Shukla, the cinematographer for Santosh Sivan’s Urumi told Santosh about my film because she liked what she’d heard,” says Ravindra.

“So much so that Santosh, who’d never met me before in life, introduced himself and expressed interest in knowing more. When he saw it, he said that if the audience laps up my climax he’d buy the rights to remake the film in another language,” he added.

Naturally, Ravindra considers this to be one of the best compliments he’s received. “I’m also looking at remaking the film in Hindi.

I’ve approached a few production houses for it too. The film revolves around an intimate couple and I only have actors Madhavan and Vidya Balan in mind for the film,” says the film maker.

While those may be distant desires, he’s quite happy that he’s left no stone unturned when it comes to his film.

“I recall how I shot the first scenes between Prem and Karishma Tanna in an office in Mumbai for four days. Later, on the editing table, I felt that both of them were not in the best of shape. After some intense fitness sessions, we shot again,” says Ravindra.
