'Films are a great stress-buster', Purab Kohli

Actor Purab Kohli is someone who believes in the magic of movies. The actor, an avid film lover, tries to catch films from every possible genre from every corner of the world. “Films are great stress-busters but they have a bigger role in my life. I love to catch up on as many films as possible, some are of my choice and some are recommended by colleagues and friends,” he says.

He is a huge fan of Hong Kong filmmaker Wong Kar-Wai. “I have seen most of his films including the melancholic In The Mood For Love, the tender Happy Together, the exhilarating Fallen Angels and the contemporary classic Chungking Express.”

Though he loves Bollywood to mainstream Hollywood, he chooses prison drama The Shawshank Redemption for the top honour. “It is my favourite film and I don’t think I have ever seen a motion picture as powerful as this one,” he says. But when asked the reason why he loves the film so much, Purab says, “I can cite many reasons. It’s a human story. With the triumph of human will at its core, the brilliant narrative makes for a superlative watch. It’s something to feel and enrich yourself with,” he says.
