Filmmaker Sri Ganesh defers release of his film out of goodwill

There are certain directors whose passion is just so captivating. First time maker Sri Ganesh is one such. He’s currently awaiting the release of his film Kaanchaana, which stars Diganth and Ragini Dwivedi. This filmmaker, who’s already planning his next film, has deferred his release all because of goodwill.

“We were supposed to have hit the screens this month itself. But, Yogaraj Bhat and his team called us and told us how releasing two of Diganth’s films, back to back, isn’t a right thing, especially since his film is doing well. We’ve decided to defer the release now until Paramathma’s hype dies down. We’re part of one industry after all and we all need to survive,” says Ganesh.

The director believes that a film should never move away from its basic objective, which is entertainment. “For the time you spend in the cinema hall, you should come out entertained. This is why I chose to make a comedy, which has a lot of massy elements too,” says Ganesh, who adds, “My film is well under two hours in length.”

The director, who’s wanted to make films ever since he recollects, reminisces, “I remember when I was much younger, in my PUC, and I had lied and run away to Mumbai hoping to meet Yash Chopra. I ended up going to BR Chopra’s house, which was close to his and I was so naive back then that I thought both were the same. Today, looking back, I laugh it off, but it has been part of my learning process.”

The director’s all praise for his team of actors. “Diganth is an old friend and I always knew I wanted him to play the lead. Ragini has done a good job and Kiran Srinivas too plays an important role, which he’s essayed convincingly. We have an interesting comic ensemble,” says Ganesh.

He also reveals, “My next film will be a comedy too. The film will have Jaggesh playing the lead role. I should be commencing work on the film towards the end of the year.”
