Film Kya Dilli Kya Lahore to be unveiled at Wagah border

The first look of an upcoming film Kya Dilli Kya Lahore that talks about the bond between an Indian and a Pakistani soldier stationed at the Indo Pak border, is all set to be unveiled at the Wagah border on the night of August 14. The film staring Manu Rishi, Vijay Raaz, who has also directed the film and Raj Zutshi has been mentored by veteran lyricist and filmmaker Gulzar, right from the scripting stages. Says producer Karan Arora, “It’s a completley different take on the Indo-Pak relationship. It’s a satire, a light-hearted take on these two soldiers, who realise that they have many things in common and the reason for their rivalry is not worthy enough to be fighting. It is set a few months after the partition in 1948, but the political turmoil forms only the backdrop.”

Though the first look is being launched at Wagah border, the film itself was shot in Fiji and the outskirts of Mumbai. “It wasn’t possible to shoot at the border, so we have had to cheat. In any case we only refer to it as the border and leave it at that,” says Karan, who was encouraged by Gulzar to make the film.

Sukhwinder Singh and Shafqat Amanat Ali, who have sung for the film will be perfoming on the Wagah border during the launch.
