Eva Mendes to play opera star Maria Callas in 'Greek Fire'

Eva Mendes is all geared up to play opera star Maria Callas is an upcoming biopic Greek Fire.

The actress will portray the soprano in the forthcoming flick, based on a book about the singer's tumultuous love life.

The star also admitted that it was a role she couldn't turn down - because Gosford Park screenwriter Julian Fellowes penned down the script specifically for her.

"Julian Fellowes wrote a script for me based on the relationship between Maria Callas and Aristotle Onassis, and as Julian Fellowes wrote it for me I couldn't say no to it," the Daily Express quoted her as telling the Independent.
