Enrique is hot: Sunidhi Chauhan

Singer Sunidhi Chauhan clearly knows to play it right. She has teamed up with the Latino pop icon Enrique, in his first ever collaboration with an Indian artiste.

“Working with Enrique was a great experience,” said an elated Chauhan to DNA yesterday. “I had heard his music and really liked most of it. So when I was approached for the collaboration, there was no question of giving it a second thought, I was too excited about it.” In what could be called the perfect fusion of desi tunes wth western music, the track starts with the folk style with Sunidhi singing 'Hathilaa... mann bawaraa…zara sa hai dara dara.'

The song has an extensive use of sitar and tabla. Also there is a short flute piece, merging traditional Indian instruments with pop, club tunes.

“Enrique was pretty kicked about working with an Indian artist for the first time. We both gelled well and the song too came out great — I think it was a great combination,” states Chauhan. Prod her further if she was enamored by the sexy pop star, she adds, “I think he’s hot! He’s such a package, he looks good and sings good too.”

The video of the track has been shot in US and partly in Mumbai too; and is well stylised. Elaborating on the same, Chauhan says, “I am wearing a saree in the video. And I think I look pretty good in it!”

The track, from the album titled Euphoria, will be released on March 16 worldwide, along with the remix version which had been recorded simultaneously. “We did not want the DJs to play with the flesh and blood of the song trying to remake it. So we pre-empted it and decided to release the remix at the same time,” explains music composer and composer of the track, Shameer Tandon.

“Sunidhi is a versatile singer. And the song portrays the two sides of her  — the essentially folksy tunes and the part where she matches upto Enrique’s style,” he adds.
