Elizabeth Hurley’s TV hopes dashed after 'Wonder Woman' gets the axe

Elizabeth Hurley’s villainous role in the new Wonder Woman TV pilot is now something the world, presumably, will never see.

US channel NBC has officially given the high-booted project the boot, after the pilot - which Hurley had spent months filming - got the thumbs-down from test audiences, reports The Sun.

The model, 45, was set to play the superheroine's nemesis Veronica Cale.

David E Kelley had penned a script that updated the comic book classic to have the heroine as a hard-headed businesswoman by day and a baddie botherer by night.

However, US industry magazine Entertainment Weekly says that the show's completed pilot garnered mixed reviews at test screenings.

It also reports that there were concerns about the character's updated superhero costume, which had lost the Stars And Stripes and amped up the Greek goddess instead.

Apparently, the wardrobe department even redesigned the gear, but the revamp still didn't cut the mustard with studio bosses.

Hurley recently revealed she was part of the show by posting on Twitter when she first got the role: 'Thrilled to be doing the NBC pilot Wonder Woman'.

She added that she will be playing the lead character's nemesis saying: 'I'll be playing the evil villain. Can't wait'.
