Education for girls should be taken on a war footing: Ekta Kapoor

“I fully support all the three initiatives taken up by DNA, as I feel that all of them can easily be addressed,” says filmmaker Ekta Kapoor.

“I feel that education is a right that every child no matter a girl or a boy should be entitled to. It’s not just a gender issue, but a national one and needs to be taken on a war footing. But having said that I do feel that girls suffer more than boys when it comes to being denied the basic rights,” adds Ekta.

In fact, this along with, awareness of cancer are topics that she hopes to address in all her upcoming shows too. “I think that our films and shows have the power to connect to masses across and I think each one of us should do our bit to bring about the change that we want to see,” she explains.

Talking about cervical cancer, she adds, that considering there are vaccinations available, it’s imperative that women should be made aware of the difference it can make to their lives and health. “Also the topic of public safety of women is something that I feel should be taken on more seriously by the law,” she says.
