Double vision!

Yet to be telecast serial Aap Ki Antara has had its share of problems. First, the girl who was to play the lead role, Apple Reetoria, was made to walk out of the serial after her mother complained of a hectic work schedule. Later, four-year-old Zaina Vastani was found as a replacement. The channel is hugely banking on the girl’s exclusivity as the serial rides on her tiny shoulders. What they perhaps do not know is that the girl has an identical twin sister, Ziyah, who has already been lapped up by Percept Picture Company for a role in their forthcoming film Bum Bum Bole.

However, Zee TV says they are not feeling insecure about Zaina’s look alike being a part of a film that’s soon to be released. “There is no question of insecurity as Zaina is a good artiste and we are glad to have her, even if others (Percept) release her look before we do. We are glad she is playing Antara’s character,” says Ajay Bhalwankar, Programming Head of Zee TV.

To that, Navin Shah, CEO, Percept Picture Company, says, “The main star of our film is Darsheel Safary. The girl (Ziyah) is really talented and we were looking for her to gain popularity post the release of the film. So it’s not that we have banked on her. Now if her twin sister gains popularity, it will only benefit us since audiences will identify her onscreen.”
