Dibakar Banerjee talks about his relationship with Abhay Deol

He walks away if he doesn’t get attention, the other one refuses to take any nonsense from him. There is a strange relationship that actor Abhay Deol and his director Dibakar Banerjee with whom he’s been friends with from 2005 share.

“I don’t know what kind of relationship we share, but I wouldn’t label it as love-hate or love-love or something like that. We are colleagues and we share a professional bond. That’s about it,” says Dibakar, who won the national award last year.

But isn’t it true that he had many rounds of fights with Abhay and that the fights keep on happening frequently? “There were instances and I was surprised to hear that Emran (Hashmi) and Abhay are fighting. But Abhay fought with me and not Emran. He did have an argument with me, but he never with Emran,” he adds.

The most famous of all the arguments is of course Abhay walking out on Dibakar because he was apparently not paying attention to him. “He walked out, but the very next day we were talking again. I guess that is the best part of the professional relationship we have. We fight, but next day itself we talk as if nothing has happened,” says Dibakar.

But then what about the rumours of tension that’s apparently there between co-stars Emraan and Abhay? Isn’t it a fact that Abhay is a little insecure with Emraan around? “I have never seen the two fight on my sets. Whatever fights have happened on sets, have all happened with me. I have been working with Abhay for a long time and I guess I am entitled to fight him,” he adds.
