Dealing with hate mails

Well, I do read all the mails that come to me and some of them are filled with a lot of garbage. I dont react to these mails, it’s like spam, although some of them do give me an insight on what my fans are thinking and help me become a better actor. I do not let the hate mails get to me as I have stopped reacting a long time back.

When there’s love and adulation, there is hate and flak too; bouquets and brickbats! Though I believe I don’t really have too many who hate me, I don’t take such things seriously.

Thankfully I haven’t really been a regular recipient of such contemptuous mails very often. But at times people do vent their anger and disappointment out on Twitter and might leave nasty comments on various websites. But I believe it comes with the territory. Though such things do not bother me directly, I make sure I consider all the constructive criticism, but of course if it gets too nasty I shall be dismissive of it.

My problem has never been hate mails but the contrary. Post my Aakhri Pasta character in Housefull it is those love dripping mails and SMSs that disturb me. And surprisingly, a majority of them come from men (laughs). I hope those love-struck guys who write to me are just joking with me.

I do get a hassled when someone talks bad of me or sends across a nasty mail. But I guess being a public figure it comes as a part and parcel of your job. I understand that people hold opinions and they are bipolar, so I have just acclimatised myself to ignore it altogether.

You won’t believe it but I’ve never got any hate mail. If ever I get one, I’ll probably have fun replying to it. Also I need to give out my mail ID to more people; I never had an email account for a long time. People only connected to me through sms. I guess no one really hates me.
