Courtney Love not changing her name, says representative

Courtney Love will not be changing her name, confirms a representative for the rock star. Love, 45, was born Courtney Michelle Harrison, but adopted Love as her last name when she launched her music career in the 1980s.

During a recent interview with NME magazine, Love spoke about dropping her famous moniker because she felt "oppressed" by her stage name.

"We've all decided we don't like her (Courtney Love) any more. (Call me) Courtney Michelle. The name Courtney Love is a way to oppress me," the Daily Star quoted her as having said.

But a representative for the rock star has insisted that she is not changing her name. "Not at all. She said it metaphorically," the rep told GossipCop.com.
