Comedian Boyle facing Channel 4 sack over 'repugnant' Paralympic jokes

British comedian Frankie Boyle is facing a sack from Paralympic Olympics organiser, Channel 4 for posting highly derogatory jokes on his Twitter account during the opening ceremony of the Games, which attracted widespread criticism.

Boyle's suggestions that Saudi athletes were 'mainly thieves' who had their hands cut off for stealing and that a British high jumpers personal best was 'Taliban-assisted' sparked fury.

Among those condemning the comments were Olympic silver medallist Lizzie Armitstead, who said: "Frankie Boyle isn't funny.

Valerie Simmonds, the mother of Paralympian swimmer Ellie Simmonds, told a newspaper: "He is just offensive.

Last night, a source at Channel 4 said the broadcasting company has had enough of Boyle, and it wants to get rid of him soon

"We will wash our hands of Frankie now," The Telegraph quoted a source, as saying

Another source added: "Frankie has upset a lot of people, his comments are out of touch with the feelings of Britain.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Channel 4 said: "He is not under contract with Channel 4 and we don't have any shows planned with him."
