Early this year, Bengal invaded Mumbai with its weaves, colour and textures. Now Mumbai goes Pan Indian, as ‘Me’ magazine invites designers from across India to woo your hearts.

You are invited to Punjab, Sindh, Gujarat, Maratha… and Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai and Delhi all at the same venue! Thirty designers from across India, each handpicked and on special invitation from the ‘Me’ team, will showcase and sell for one day only at The Hilton Towers, Nariman Point, on Sunday October 8, from 11 am to 8 pm.

The collections range from cool and trendy to sedate, from casual to ornate and ethnic to smart Westerns. Here you will find garments for the professional, for the party popper, the collegian and the bride to be, and not forgetting the man with good taste.

The designer line-up is...

Ashish and Viral Parekh of Virtues will present a colourful, celebratory collection of jewelled cholis, jackets and saris.

Ragini Singhania creates casual Western to formal ethnic wear embellished with Swarovski crystals, exquisite embroidery and cutwork.

Rina Shah introduces here her couture footwear and bags line and presents her collection of leather-free footwear that has made waves in New York.

Shantanu and Nikhil will offer fitted Western clothes that will bring out the model in you.

Siddharth Tytler is known for his smart fits and off-beat cuts in stylish Western clothes for all occasions.

Malika’s Kantha collection by Shamlu Dudeja is Bengali kantha workmanship on saris, trousers, skirts, jackets and shewanis and kurtas for men.

Ninad by Nandini Mahanalobis has Lucknowi chikan prêt on saris, churidar suits, smart tops and shirts.

Sonya Khan of Yellow Leaf displays soft cottons, flowing silks with clean cuts and lines. These are clothes with a difference.

Svayam presents block prints on crepe, cotton and georgette that are very casual and wearable for any occasion.

Agnimitra Paul has prints, textured weaves, Indian traditional outfits and trendy Western wear for young-at-heart women.

Leena Taneja shows bridal saris, jackets with Swarovski crystals, zardosi embroidery, and glittering semi-formals.

Medhavini Khaitan reflects the choice of the upwardly mobile urban men– trendy with wearability being the prime preference.

Vinita Pittie has bangles designed for the season, with cholis that are daring, interesting or just plain glamorous.

Arnab Sengupta shows the rich detailing of  hand embroideries, textures and colours all inspired by different historical periods. The collection includes sarees, evening wear jackets, lehengas, kurtis, skirts and sherwanis.

Nupur Kanoi has bold and exotic patterns which dominate her line.

Madhavi Khaitan shows rich sarees with crystals, stone work and zardosi.

Dev ‘N’ Nil have subtle textures with fine detailing that come alive in their creations.

Misbah Mitha has beautifully embellished unstitched salwar kurta pieces at affordable prices.

Parvez Agarwal’s My Beautiful Embroideries speaks for itself. Hand embroidered garas and other works of affordable art that keeps craftswomen gainfully employed.

Priyaa Awasthy has it all from basic, daily, prêt wear in bright colours to party wear, sexy tunics, skirts and basic black and white cocktail dresses, to bridal sarees.

Lajjoo C has chic clothes that are cut to flatter, in cotton for day wear as well as evening wear for all occasions.

Monapali’s textured flowing skirts, linen tops with intricate thread work, a range of clothes both formal and casual, all have the inimitable Monapali touch.

Snehashish Bhatacharya presents a mix of men’s and ladies wear.  The man who dressed Sanjay Dutt, Saif Ali Khan and Vidya Balan in ‘Parineeta’, his other clients include people like Ustaad Amjad Ali Khan, Dilip De etc.

Ravina Belani has tunics in crepe and silk, linen and chiffon. Lots of bright, festive colours and festive embroidery as well as crochet.

Kishore Ramani is a menswear designer who is now dabbling in skirts and sarees as well. His traditional menswear is a sure hit with takers around India.

Shilpa Kakwani has a collection restricted to 3 colours – red, white and black, inspired by the yin and yang.

Mehak Gupta has bridal bindis, bindi sets, maang tikkas, earrings, armlets, neck pieces, rings and key rings. All made of Swarovski crystals.

Anaaya shows scarves, bags, and a line of casual wear to match.

Eina Ahluwalia displays contemporary silver jewellery set with coloured and semi-precious stones.
