Chris Martin stops concert midway to hush tambourine-playing fan

Chris Martin stopped a gig in London on Thursday to ask a fan not to play tambourine along with his song.

According to the Sun, the Coldplay frontman headlined a show for learning disability charity Mencap in Hackney, and was midway through the band’s hit The Scientist when he heard a woman using the instrument to accompany him, Contactmusic reported.

Martin halted the concert and told the fan to stop.

“This is not a tambourine song - I don’t mean to be rude,” he said.

“Let me be honest with you, we tried tambourine on the recording and had to scrap it - so we have been playing it for 10 years with no tambourine. It probably sounds great, but I’m just used to it without tambourine. Don’t take it personally,” he said.
