Choreographer Sandip Soparrkar discovers the dancer in Ajay Devgn

Actor Ajay Devgn may be known for his natural flare for action and comedy roles on the big screen. But in his forthcoming film — the Madhur Bhandarkar directed comedy — the actor will be seen at his dancing best too! Never mind his macho image, Devgn has performed a sexy salsa number with co-star Shazahn Padamsee and those who’ve had a dekko at the song say that Devgn manages to surprise with his easy dance moves.

Choreographer Sandip Soparrkar — who has choreographed two dance numbers in the film — reveals that Devgn is actually a very good dancer. “Ajay was indeed a surprise. When I was told to choreograph the dance with him and Shazahn, I did not know anything about his capabilities as a dancer. I knew about his action moves, but his dance moves are equally amazing. He picked up the steps real fast too.” Soparrkar does admit though that Devgn was initially shy and a little hesitant to dance, but was equally confident as soon as he took to it. “He’s actually a chhuppa rustam when it comes to dancing,” he adds.

By the end of it, the actor was apparently keen to learn more than just what the song required him to. While Shazahn rehearsed for over a month to get her moves right, Devgn too proved to be a fast learner. “Ajay showed a keen liking towards this dance form,” adds Sandip.

Incidentally, Devgn had even tried his hand at salsa for his own directorial debut U, Me Aur Hum in a dance sequence with wife Kajol as well.
