It seemed like it was straight out of the movie screen. Watching the beautiful Chitrangda Singh walk that ramp can best be described as surreal.

Sizzling in her light green ensemble, she even did a little jig that snapped the audience out of their reverie as it were. In Bangalore, along with her director Sudhir Mishra to promote their film Yeh Saali Zindagi, Chitrangda was the showstopper for her designer friend Archana Kochhar.

Up close and personal, we see why this actor is often compared to yesteryears actor Smita Patil.

Singh says, “It feels great to be compared to someone like Smita Patil, it’s a great compliment. In any case, one can’t have one’s own identity after just four films, but I do try to meet expectations.”

Interestingly, Singh has a lot more to say about Smita’s son Prateik. “He is a fantastic human being. I have seen his films too and I believe he is blessed to possess the same intensity as his mother did. There is this deep mystery in his eyes,” says Singh, who happens to be one of the few actors in the industry instrumental in having changed the way married heroines are perceived.

“I would love to look at it that way, but I guess it’s all got to do with time. People are changing too. I am glad that I am part of the industry at a time when fresh ideas are welcome and people are open to change,” she says.
