Censor problems again for Anurag Kashyap's next

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap is set to get into the eye of a storm yet again as it has come to light that he has used the name of Ustad Zakir Hussain in a manner that might seem unsavoury to some.

According to sources, the tabla maestro’s name has been mentioned in a scene where the character is shown to be masturbating in his room.

“There is a scene in the movie where Neil Bhoopalam (former RJ and stand-up comedian) is masturbating in his room and his mother enters the room. To hide what he is doing, he pretends to be searching for a music CD,” says a source.

A couple of seconds later, Neil Bhoopalam goes through an orgasm and he apparently screams out “Mil Gaya Zakir Hussain”. Apparently, to denote to his mother that he has found the CD of the tabla maestro.

“He does mouth the dialogue and he uses Zakir Hussain’s name as he approaches orgasm. A lot of people thought that the dialogue could have been mouthed in some other way and perhaps the name of Zakir Hussain could have been avoided,” the source adds.

When conforonted, the director of the film couldn’t deny that there’s a scene like that in the film. “Its part of an introduction montage of the character. He is a quirky guy who is into gaming in a big way. He is geeky but not in the traditional way and we wanted to set that up right in the beginning of the film. In the scene he’s getting off as his mother walks in on him,” says Bejoy Nambiar, the director of the film. He also confirmed that such a dialogue is there in the film.

The censor board, which is reportedly readying the scissors already, couldn’t confirm whether the scene will be axed out or not. “They have not submitted their print for a review. We will have to wait and see in what context and how the dialogues have been used and take a decision accordingly,” said Pankaja Thakur, the regional censor board chief.
