Censor board biased towards small filmmakers: Mahesh Nair

Debutante director Mahesh Nair, whose film Accident On Hill Road is all set to hit theatres on the New Year's eve, feels that censor board is biased towards small banner filmmakers.

"Censor board gives 'U' certificate for films by big banners despite filmmakers showing backless and intense love making scenes. But when the actress in my movie is just removing her stocking, the censor board objects to that part," Nair told PTI.

"Big banners are influential people which is why they get certificate and we do not get it as we are small in front of them. We are not showing intense romance. It was just a part of script. Why are they biased towards us?" questioned Nair, who had earlier assisted renowned director Ram Gopal Varma.

Nair makes it clear that his film is not based on the hit-and-run case of actor Salman Khan.

"With the title of the movie, one feels that we are talking about the infamous hit-and-run case of actor Salman Khan. The movie is not based on the actor's accident case but it has some references," Nair said.

'Accident on Hill Road' is a drunken driver's hit-and-run tale which is slated to be released on December 31. Celina Jaitley stars as Sonam Chopra, a hard-partying, nursing assistant who accidentally steers her car into the harmless Prakash Shrivastava, played by Farooque Shaikh.

Not wanting to jeopardise her future, Sonam, alongwith her drug peddling boyfriend Sid (Abhimanyu Singh), chooses not to help him, leaving him clinging to life in her garage.
