Can't do films just to be in short clothes: Sameera Reddy

After playing a Naxalite in Red Alert - The War Within, actress Sameera Reddy is getting back into a glamorous image in her next action thriller Tezz.

However, the 32-year-old actress says it isn't the lure of looking glamourous that makes her choose her roles now.

"After being in the industry for so long, I have the understanding to know whether a film really needs me or not," said Reddy, who made her debut in 2002 with Maine Dil Tujhko Diya.

"Today I can't be picking up a film just because it comes from a top banner. I have to like the overall quality of a film rather than consenting to it just because someone tells me that I have to be scantily dressed," Reddy said.

The actress says she plans to pick up only meaty roles in future irrespective of the banner.

"There are certain films that I did because they came from reputed banners and boasted of good co-stars. I may not have had much to do in these films but I thought the overall impact would be worthwhile. However I can't continue to do that now," Reddy said.

In Tezz, Reddy will be seen doing some action along with co-star Ajay Devgn.

"I always wanted to do a full on action movie and Tezz gave me that opportunity to merge performance with the look. Here I have gone quite sleek with that 'bike-n-babe' combination. The look I am carrying has a very Angelina Jolie kind of feel to it," the actress said.

Meanwhile, her Bollywood career hasn't made her wave goodbye to South. She is already shooting a Tamil film with Madhavan Vettai, her Telugu film Nadunisi Naaygal with director Gautham Menon released early this year.

"Even Madhavan is doing regional films. And then Prabhu Deva made Wanted with Salman but is still continuing his stint in South. After all these films have a great reach today so it would be foolhardy to let something good pass by," Reddy said.
