Bollywood to tighten security after Mumbai blasts

Security of a film venue or event is of prime concern in tinselville today.

The terrorists can now target individuals too and might show that they are capable of precision attacks as well — this rumour appears to have shaken the stars as well. Sources say, a few of the top stars have expressed their concern about the security arrangements made during events and premieres.

“If Taj can be the target of an attack, an event or a premiere or even a show can be made a target for these attacks. We need to be more careful and need to know that having bodyguards doesn’t mean that you have enough security,” says an actor.

According to sources, most stars will now ensure that venues and theatres will be thoroughly searched for explosives before an event. Some are even considering making that a part of the contract of events and promotions.

“Bodyguards are used to prevent people from coming at touching distance to the stars. But this requires a different kind of expertise. We are trying to upgrade ourselves to handle that kind of security. We need sniffer dogs and men who can thoroughly scan a venue before an event begins,” says a security expert.

Scanning and frisking of visitors are mandatory for theatres but now, there will be more restrictions put into place.

“There will be more restrictions on visitors and most roadshows that don’t guarantee adequate security to the stars will be cancelled. Now we need even more security but we will have to look beyond bodyguards now,” says a head of a top event management company.
