Bollywood celebrates the holy month of Ramzan

Actor Sanjay Dutt may not have a huge Eid party planned to celebrate with family tomorrow, but he is all set to make it special for over 200 children by hosting a special Iftar party for them today.

As part of the initiative by Cine and TV Artistes’ Association’s (CINTAA’s) head honcho, Dharmesh Tiwari, the star will be co-hosting the Iftar party for the children of the numerous industry workers including those of the lightmen and spotboys.

A source reveals, “Sanjay has always been more than helpful when it comes to the industry workers. This time around he will be gifting the kids clothes, food and books as part of the celebrations. The party will be held in the CINTAA office premises today in the evening.”

Buzz is that the actor will be accompanied with wife Manyata. “Yes, Manyata is expected to join Sanjay as she too believes in the cause,” the source adds.

Meanwhile, Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi are preparing to host their usual Eid get together tomorrow. But Shabana says that it’s more of an open house than a particular bash as such. “I love Eid,” exclaims Shabana.

“The tradition with Eid is that it’s an open house. Friends drop in, we don’t invite anyone. The dahiwada and sheer qorma must never run out, that’s the challenge for the hostess who has no idea how many guests to prepare the food for. Traditionally only biryani and kebabs are served, but with time the menu has expanded,” says the actor.

As for the household celebrations she adds, “The night that chand is spotted, we apply mehndi on our palms and gather together to cut badmas in preparations for the next day. All the women wear ghararas, while the men wear kurta pyjamas.”
