Bollywood can wait, says Vijender Singh

We have been seeing him in quite a few ads lately, not to mention in the company of some Bollywood stars and it is been confirmed that boxer Vijender Singh will make his debut along side Govinda’s daughter, Narmmadaa Ahuja.

“I had quite a few offers in hand, but I was taking my time to go through each one in detail. I always felt I could take this up but my first love will always be boxing,” clears Singh, when asked about his transition from sports to films.

Though boxing has been and will always be his first choice, working in films always fascinated him. He says, “I wanted to try my hands in acting too! If I can handle acting and modelling along with boxing, I have no problem.”

While the boxer is not ready to confirm if he has signed on the dotted line as yet, reports suggest that he will in fact be seen romancing Narmmadaa in director Lovely Singh’s movie Manchali.

“I haven’t signed the film yet. I am still in talks with the producers; things are moving slowly, let’s see how the rest shape up,” is all that he has to say.

Speaking of his co-star, the boxer says, “Narmmadaa seems to be a promising actor and if all works out well, I do look forward to working with her.” Interestingly, the film is a love story and there will be no sports involved.

Singh is not the first sportsperson to make his way to the arch lights, and he says, “There have been many sportsmen who have gone on to become actors, but have not been too successful. But I believe in myself,” informs a confident Singh.
