Bollywood actresses are up for role play

Bollywood divas are not shying away from donning different avatars when it comes to fashion. Actress Sonam Kapoor has been spotted wearing everything from typically girlie dresses to high waist skirts in the past. And more recently, her androgynous look —complete with a high collared shirt and a maharaja necklace at an event won her the thumbs up.

Actress Kangna Ranaut has sported the sailor girl look to the high street diva look with ease. Her stylist disco diva avatar, when she turned up in a one shoulder golden draped number and a headband is one of the most remembered looks till date.

Actress Deepika Padukone, who is known for her svelte style of dressing once turned up as a sexy small town sari-clad woman for a promotional event.

Says fashion designer Anamika Khanna, who helped Kapoor get the off beat androgynous look right, “It all depends on one’s  personality. Looks that are easier to pull off are gypsy, bohemian or sexy diva.”

Designer Rajat Tangri, who is responsible for Ranaut’s disco diva look says that role play in fashion is like walking on a tight rope. “The key is in sticking to a theme. The disco look has variations so one can even try on a completely sequined dress and team it with interesting head gear,” suggests Rajat.

Designer Masaba Gupta, known for her eclectic style sense is all for the 70s retro look.

“That’s one avatar that chicks rarely go wrong with. Also, it gives ample scope to experiment - you can do a lot with your hair, wear polka dot dresses and wear thick eye liner for added effect. A little bling will also look nice,” she concludes.
