Bollywood actors buffing it up

Action flicks are making a comeback in a big way this year. And to pull off all those high-octane action sequences, our Bolly hunks are working towards buffing up their bods like never before. Keeping in mind the competition these stars will face from each other at the box office post-May when all their ‘big films’ will be unleashed one after another, sources say, the actors are leaving no machine in the gym untouched!

Actor Hrithik Roshan’s already pumping iron for his role in Agneepath, while John Abraham is set to outdo his own Dostana hot bod in his forthcoming Force. Ajay Devgn too is working towards a meaner and leaner look for Singham, as is Shah Rukh Khan for Don 2. Saif Ali Khan is pumping iron for Agent Vinod and is looking his ‘abs’olute best.

And the latest to join this ‘hunk’ wagon are actors Aamir Khan and Abhishek Bachchan, who’re preparing for Dhoom 3. Aamir, of course, had taken this muscled look to a different level altogether with his Ghajini. But though he’s not pulling off another Ghajini body this time around, buzz is that his forthcoming films will see him in a superfit avatar.

Celebrity trainer Prashant Sawant says that stars today are anyway a ‘super-fit’ lot. “Now if they are trying to raise this existing bar of fitness and physique, then you are talking about nothing but the best bods in showbiz ever. And taking this level to new heights is more challenging than getting in shape. But they are a determined lot.”

John Abraham, who had to go to his original muscled look and even add in that extra bit, right after losing much weight for his geeky look in Jhootha Hi Sahi, says that it was no easy task.
“Though I’ve always been a fitness buff, for my new role I had to raise my bar myself, and it wasn’t easy. This role called for having even better muscles than I had earlier,” says John flexing his enviable biceps.

Roshan, is another star known for his rippling-physique. “Of course, it’s a lot of hard work and requires awful long hours of working out. But when you do an action role, you need to have a body that your audience is convinced of to pull off those strenuous sequences,” said the star in an earlier interview. An industrywallah points out that the stars know that they are in for a tagdi takkar and comparisons will be inevitable.

“They are aiming for the best they can get. Besides, they need to work on their stamina as doing action scenes need high levels of fitness,”says the insider.

With these hot-bodied men taking over the screen, one might predict several scorching seasons ahead!
